Gussie McVey Miller

Savannah- Gussie Lee McVey Miller died Friday, March 2, 2012 at her home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
She was born in Emanuel County and has lived in Savannah since 1942. Gussie attended schools in Soperton, Georgia and Savannah.
Gussie retired from Memorial Medical Center after twenty nine years of service. She was one of the original Purchasing Department staff and retired as Purchasing and Material Management Director. She was previously employed by Union Camp Corporation.
Gussie was a member of White Bluff United Methodist Church, life member and past president of the Soroptomist Club, Southeast Hospital Purchasing Agents and LaVida Golf Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley and Angie Lord McVey as well as two sisters and three brothers, also her first husband, Graham Phillips, who was the father of her son.
Surviving are her husband of forty six years, John; son, Graham Gene Phillips of Savannah; step-son, Richard W. Miller of Kenner, LA; step-daughter, Susan Moreci of Metairie, LA; nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2012 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors with Rev. John Haney officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
